Chapter 6: Heartbreak and Growth : His response shattered my heart into a thousand pieces. I cried until the tears ran dry, and even then, the emptiness lingered. Days blurred into weeks, each one heavier than the last. I replayed his words endlessly, searching for a different meaning, but the truth was undeniable—he didn’t feel the same. Yet life, cruel and relentless, marched forward. I clung to my studies, diving headfirst into the pursuit of excellence. If I couldn’t have his love, I could at least win the respect I craved, even from myself.
Years passed, each one chipping away at the broken girl I once was. Through relentless effort, I rose, stronger and fiercer. The timid dreamer became a doctor—a woman who commanded rooms with her confidence and inspired trust with her compassion. I looked in the mirror and saw someone I admired, someone I fought to become. But even in my brightest moments, a shadow lingered.
Deep in my chest, a quiet ache whispered his name: Aman. It was a longing I couldn’t suppress, a wound time refused to heal. I had rebuilt myself from the wreckage, but a part of me still clung to the hope that one day, maybe, he’d see the woman I’d become.
